Little Dixie is a band that covers popular newer country with some classic rock and more.
The band, which calls Mexico it's home, has members from Monroe City, Macon, and Mexico.
That region of Missouri is also known as Little Dixie.
Little Dixie performs regularly at venues throughout central and northeast Missouri.
You can see Little Dixie at fairs during the summer and at dance clubs year-around.
Little Dixie has opened for national acts including Justin Moore, Tracy Lawrence,
Josh Gracin, Confederate Railroad, Daryl Singletary, Rhett Akins, and others.
The lead singer is Melissa Rife from Macon,
Bob McMorris from Mexico plays guitar,
Frosty Vestal from Mexico plays guitar, steel guitar, and keyboard,
Keith Herron from Monroe City plays bass guitar,
and on drums from Mexico is Jay Johansen.
Melissa originates from Muscatine, Iowa, Jay from St. Louis,
Bob and Keith from Paris, MO., and Frosty came from Wellsville.
Although the band "Little Dixie" is new in 2009, the members have
many years of experience performing for audiences.
Bob, Keith, and Jay played for the local rock cover band Alias for more than a decade, and
then with Frosty in the Becky Blackaby Band.
Frosty also played in BSFM and has 7 years of experience with the local rock band Mezmer.
Melissa has performed in front of audiences since age 6.
Melissa spent 5 years with the Chris Ridge Performance Company.
She has also performed at opry's, various fairs, competed in Branson Idol, and
won the Colgate Country Music Showdown in Tipton, Iowa.
